estudio de la pisada con sistema analisis de marcha optogait 900x900 1

What is gait analysis?

It consists of a study carried out using a pressure platform that detects the points of load and pressure in the footprint of our feet; it gives us information not only about the image of our footprint, but also about its relationship with the rest of the structures of our body.

The study must be carried out by a qualified professional who knows what parameters to measure and how to interpret the information obtained.

What is the purpose of footprint study?

In our clinic we have specialists in the study of gait, who carry out this analysis adapted to the specific needs of each individual. In addition, it is not directed exclusively to the patient’s gait, but to the body as a whole.

It is a great diagnostic tool for foot, knee, hip and back pathologies. Once a detailed diagnosis has been obtained, the next step is to apply an effective and individualized treatment to improve your health.

Studying your gait will improve your quality of life.

The aim is to detect mechanical alterations in order to treat and prevent musculoskeletal pathologies. In many cases, if each foot has a different stride, it can cause alterations such as having one hip higher than the other, one shoulder lower than the other, etc. This causes greater muscle tension and the relationship between the different areas of the body to not be functional.

Do you think that if your right foot is different in footprint to your left foot in terms of support, shape and pressure areas, it will influence how the rest of your body moves?

That’s our job! To assess and see your relationship.

Technology used in the study of the footprint.

The technology used to perform the footprint study is a pressure platform. Our podiatrists have Sensor Medica and Podiatech Presscan V5 equipment to analyze the patient’s footprint.

Thanks to this, we obtain complete information, which is interpreted by our specialists to design the ideal treatment, whether it be custom-made insoles, therapeutic exercise, change in the type of footwear, injections, bandages, or even advice on improving lifestyle.

Benefits of gait study treatment.

Footwear valuation unit.

At the Poyatos Podiatry and Posturology Clinic we have a footwear assessment unit through a biomechanical and gait study.

The type of shoe we use, like insoles, affects the position of our foot and the rest of our body structure. We study and assess the patient’s different footwear and advise them on which is most suitable for their case depending on whether they are going to play sports, if they need specific footwear for work, or the usual footwear for their daily activities.

Each patient is unique and we must adapt to their circumstances: not the same thing fits everyone, including shoes.
