Why it is important to take care of the skin on your feet.

The skin is the largest organ in the body. We must take care of it and keep it healthy, otherwise it could be affected by some of the most common problems, such as plantar warts, also known as papillomas, chilblains, foot fungus or tinea pedis (athlete’s foot) and nail fungus (onychomycosis).

Check the condition of your feet

It is important to frequently check the condition of your skin and visit a podiatrist and visit the podiatrist once a year, follow hygiene habits, moisturize inside and out, use products such as creams or deodorants that do not contain substances harmful to our skin, wear clothes that allow the skin to breathe, use appropriate footwear that also protect the skin of the feet, and see a specialist if necessary.

Most common skin problems:

Plantar warts or papillomas cause lesions on the skin of the feet. They may look similar to calluses, but darker, and usually appear after direct or indirect contact with other people who already have them. They can be transmitted in places such as swimming pools or gyms, where it is more common for the Human Papillomavirus to penetrate the skin when the pores are dilated by the humidity of the environment, or if the skin has a cut, among others.

Nail fungus (onychomycosis) can be transmitted in spaces with high levels of humidity and those where we tend to walk barefoot. In addition to contagion, it can occur for other reasons, such as continuous microtraumas such as excessive sweating and poor hygiene habits, circulation problems, especially in older people, and in people with a more sensitive immune system.

Tinea pedis is a type of fungus, and it occurs especially in young patients and adults who regularly practice sports, and who wear shoes that prevent proper transpiration, in addition to being more exposed because they normally frequent changing rooms, toilets, showers, gym swimming pools, etc. When it appears, redness and irritation can be seen on the skin of the feet. Athlete’s foot is the most common type of tinea pedis, it originates between the toes, causes itching and peeling of the skin.

Diagnosis and treatment

At our podiatry clinic we carry out complete assessments of patients with skin problems to obtain an accurate diagnosis and apply an effective treatment.

Innovative techniques.

Using the surgical technique with K-Laser Cube 4, we cauterize the matrix to ensure that the side of the nail that is embedded in the skin does not come out again. This avoids continuous visits due to discomfort on the sides of the nails.

Laser treatment.

We perform laser treatments to treat different pathologies that affect the foot, from surgical techniques for ingrown toenails to treatments for inflammatory injuries such as fasciitis or sprains. Laser therapy covers a wide range of pathologies with its different therapeutic programs.

You will recover faster

In our podiatry clinic we work with the K-Laser Cube 4 system, a state-of-the-art equipment thanks to which our patients enjoy a much faster recovery, since it stimulates the vascularization process and therefore the regeneration of the cells of our tissues.

Our high-power laser therapy has a great advantage: it works at different wavelengths, allowing it to perform various treatments for different foot problems. These include faster wound healing, the treatment of ulcers in diabetic patients, plantar warts, nail fungus, anti-inflammatory and analgesic therapy, and post-surgical treatments to accelerate skin regeneration.

Nail fungus

Our laser treatment for onychomycosis is an effective, safe, side effect-free solution without oral medication.

In our clinic we examine our patients in detail to determine a detailed diagnosis, and using K-Laser Cube 4 technology we eliminate nail fungus quickly and safely.

Papillomas

Papillomas or warts caused by the Human Papillomavirus look similar to calluses, although they usually have small blackish spots. And if they occur in areas of the foot where we apply pressure when walking or doing any type of physical effort, they cause pain.

Our podiatrists apply laser treatment for papillomas to those affected patients with an advanced system, the K-Laser Cube 4. We make them disappear and return the skin to its natural state.

Ingrown toenail surgery

Ingrown toenail surgery or onychocryptosis occurs when the nail digs into the sides of the toe, causing redness, swelling and pain when walking or performing any activity. It is very annoying, and although it can occur on any toe, it usually occurs on the big toe.

Because of the way we walk, the toes adapt and malposition, also affecting the pressure exerted on the nail. The causes can be genetic due to the shape of the nail and the toe, due to infection or alteration of the nail (when its morphology is altered), and due to an alteration in the behavior of the toes, directly related to the patient’s footprint and biomechanics, in addition to the type of footwear.

General podiatry.

Even if we don’t feel any pain, discomfort or suffer from any injury, it is important to go to the podiatrist to make sure that our feet are in perfect condition. Because the most important thing is prevention; if we take care of our feet we will be less exposed to suffering from any pathology.

From our clinic we recommend using shoes that allow your feet to breathe properly, washing and moisturizing your feet daily, frequently checking your skin for pain or discomfort, hard skin, warts, irritation, peeling skin, or calluses, and visiting a podiatrist regularly.
